Maya Road Design Team Call

We have been working on this for some time and it is finally here! We are putting out the call for 6 new Maya Road Designers! I am soooo excited. So many people email us wanting to design for us, but we already had an awesome team in place. But coming into the 2007 year, we wanted to add a few new designers to liven things up! I cannot wait to see the entries (I am like a kid at a candy store).

I read with interest on 2Peas about the likes and dislikes people have with DT calls. And we wanted to address some of those things in our own call. So what is different about our Design Team call?

• Asking for only 1 project - I have seen some DT calls ask for multiple projects or LOs, but for our call, we wanted something that was more accessible. I do not want anyone to be intimidated from applying because it is to onerous. After all, if every DT call required 4 projects and you apply to 5 teams, you are making more projects/LOs than I can make in a year! :)
• Looking for passion - One thing we are looking for is passion for our products. I would prefer designers who use and love our products to an equally talented designer who has to go out and buy our stuff just to enter. Don't get me wrong, buy away! But if you already use your products, all the better... After all, you will be getting A LOT of it, so familiarity with our style is very important.
• International - We purposely opened our call to international designers because there is SO much talent out there. It is hard to staff a team that is all international, but we do want to make sure that we do not leave folks out.
• Interviews - Why interviews, you may be wondering? We want to have a conversation with all of the finalists to that we can set expectations on both sides. That way, there is no confusion about what we need and what you are looking for. If the fit is not good on either side, it is totally okay.
